Do you want to make a difference in improving lives across the globe? Stanley Consultants is tapping a worldwide network of 600,000+ solvers to find an innovative, cost-effective solution to treating “forever chemicals,” or PFAS. Read on to
learn about how you can participate.
What is the PFAS Treatment Technologies Challenge?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to propose maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for certain PFAS. If these levels are established, there will be countless water and remediation systems that need to add PFAS treatment across the country.
At present, few technologies exist, and those that do are cost prohibitive.
Stanley Consultants’ PFAS Treatment Technologies Challenge is offering a cash incentive for the intellectual property rights for anyone who can produce a
solution to remove or destroy PFAS. Stanley is seeking a solution that meets existing and expected regulatory requirements, is cost-effective, safe and could be incorporated into existing treatment systems.
Why is Stanley Consultants Issuing This Challenge?
Stanley Consultants has multiple clients, the U.S. federal government among them, that are concerned about the health implications of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Various levels of PFAS have been found in drinking water supplies.
Finding an effective and affordable method to remove PFAS from public and private drinking water systems, wastewater treatment systems and groundwater directly aligns with our people-first,
purpose-driven approach. Stanley Consultants is seeking to find novel treatment or destruction techniques that could be potentially tested and verified in subsequent “reduction to practice” challenges.
“Stanley has been committed to improving lives since 1913, and we are excited to bring together regulators, experts, scientists, technologists and creatives across the world to look for new ways to support and improve public health,” said
CEO Kate Harris.
How Do I Participate in the Challenge?
Stanley Consultants’ PFAS Treatment Technologies Challenge is open to anyone. Written proposals must be submitted through the Wazoku platform by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 17, 2023. No
late submissions will be considered.
All proposals will be reviewed by Stanley Consultants, and the winner will be awarded contingent on our theoretical evaluation. Partial awards may be considered for solutions that meet some, but not all of the criteria.
To claim the award, the winner will have to transfer their exclusive intellectual property (IP) rights to Stanley Consultants. Licensing agreements may be considered for a partial award if the exclusive IP rights cannot be transferred. The winner may
also be invited to another competition that puts their solution into practice.
