About the Project
Wrong-Way Detection Systems
The Intelligent Transportation System group of TEDS, a Stanley Consultants company, is designing wrong-way detection systems for 43 interstate ramps along Interstate-4 in Orlando. The detection systems are being designed to complement the recently opened I-4 “Ultimate” program, adding safety features to all ramps. The safety features were implemented after a wrong-way driver entered the express lanes of I-4, resulting in a serious crash and injuries. TEDS expedited the design on the interchanges where direct connection to the express lanes was built, one of which is noted as the origin of the wrong-way driver.
