About the Project
Expressway sustainability study leads to implementation
The Central Florida Expressway (CFX) and contractor AECOM asked Stanley Consultants to perform a solar sustainability study to evaluate using solar power for the CFX system, including analyzing energy potential, costs and risks and benefits. It also includes recommendations for required locations and equipment.
The study considered the following sustainable development technologies: traditional photovoltaic solar, floating or wet pond solar, or elevated or dry pond solar, rooftop solar, electric vehicle charging stations, noise wall solar, electric fleet and tire pressure monitoring evaluation and photovoltaic streetlights.
The final report assessed the energy potential, electrical design, costs, risks and benefits for each alternative. Engineers also performed site evaluations. In all, Stanley Consultants recommended that the improvements would save millions of dollars in costs.
