February 1, 2021
Trenton Humphrey, an environmental engineer in Stanley Consultants Iowa City office, was named the Iowa Section Associate Member of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award is given annually to young civil engineers who have attained significant professional achievement through service to the engineering profession.
In addition to his work with Stanley Consultants identifying and treating hazardous materials for industrial and government clients, Humphrey is active in the Eastern Iowa Young Member Group of the ASCE. The president of the group said that at a time when professional organization involvement is declining, Humphrey “has really stepped up to the plate with ASCE.”
Humphrey has racked up career highlights at a young age. After working as an intern at Iowa Fertilizer Co., designed by Stanley Consultants, he joined the company and was hired by Iowa Fertilizer to conduct a third-party audit there, gaining accolades from the client.
Since joining Stanley Consultants in 2018, the revenue brought in by the environmental compliance department has doubled. Newly promoted to project manager, in 2020 Trenton managed multiple clients’ stormwater programs, decommissioning of a coal-fired power plant with three boilers dating from the ‘50s and radon testing at multiple Army facilities across the United States with projects totaling $400,000.
