Stuart Crenshaw named chief legal officer at consulting engineering firm Stanley Consultants
January 15, 2021
Denver – Stuart Crenshaw was named chief legal officer and corporate secretary at Stanley Consultants, a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental and construction oversight services.
Crenshaw will be responsible for facilitating the company’s growth and investment goals from a legal and compliance perspective. He will provide support and strategic leadership on matters such as corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and risk management at every level of the company, including the board of directors and executive leadership team.
Crenshaw joins Stanley Consultants following 8 years with TTEC, a $2 billion global leader in digitally-enabled customer experience solutions, where he served as chief counsel for corporate transactions and was similarly responsible for corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, compliance and risk management. Prior to TTEC, Stuart was senior counsel at CH2M HILL (now Jacobs Engineering) and an associate with Morrison & Foerster LLP, a large full-service law firm representing U.S. and foreign clients.
“Stuart will contribute to expanding our capabilities and diversifying our thinking as we help clients and partners solve complex challenges in a dynamic, fast-paced world,” Chief Executive Officer Kate Harris said. “His combination of engineering and technology services background supports our strategy to combine technology, industry knowledge, experience and values to help our clients and partners meet their business and social commitments.”
Crenshaw said he was attracted to the people-first company culture at Stanley Consultants, as well as the company’s recognition of the importance of embracing technology and innovation as a differentiator.
“At an innovative, agile company in this space, a successful chief legal officer must be open to new experiences, be accountable and stand ready to share his or her perspective, not only in the legal, risk and regulatory space, but in matters involving the operations, personnel and strategy,” Crenshaw said.
“As businesses change with the times, so must in-house counsel. In an age of rapidly advancing technologies, economic slowdown, increasing regulatory frameworks, geopolitical change and instability, successful CLOs in the AE industry must be nimble, ready to embrace and prepare for change,” he added. “We need to take measured and reasoned risks, be aware of the impacts and stay laser-focused on the organization’s competencies for managing or mitigating such risk.”
Stuart will report to Kate Harris out of the firm’s Broomfield office. He expects to continue to contribute to the local community through his role on the board of SungateKids, a Colorado child sexual abuse victim advocacy and prevention organization, as well his activities as a supervising attorney and mentor for law students at University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
